National Company Law Tribunal

National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) was constituted by the Central Government of India under section 408 of the Companies Act, 2013 w.e.f. 01st June 2016. It is Quasi-Judicial Body formed as adjudicating authority to deal with Indian Corporates matters and speedy disposal of Corporate Legal cases and it is the successor to the Company Law Board (CLB). It has one Principal Bench at New Delhi and have Regional Benches at New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Guwahati, Jaipur, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Mumbai. Subsequently more benches at Cuttack, Jaipur, Kochi, Amravati, and Indore. Its every bench has constitution of minimum One Judicial Member and One Technical Member.

Appeal against the Order/Decisions of the NCLT may be filed before National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) and further decisions of NCLAT may be challenged at the Supreme Court of India. NCLT & NCLAT have exclusive jurisdiction and No Civil court can entertain the cases which come under the ambit of NCLT and NCLAT.
